On Friday, January 30, 2026, a new chapter was written for the Port Authority of Cotonou (PAC). The consortium made up of Eiffage Génie Civil Marine, Spie Batignolles Fondations, and the Beninese company Adéoti, responsible for the basin extension works and the rehabilitation of the North and South quays of the Port of Cotonou, officially presented the achievements of Phase 1 during a ceremony.
The event brought together key stakeholders from the port ecosystem, including:
- the representative of Africa Global Logistics (AGL)
- the Director of Bénin Terminal
- the Director General of the Port Authority of Cotonou
- the representative of the Ministry of Living Environment and Transport in charge of Sustainable Development (MCVT)
Among the achievements presented by the consortium were:
- the construction of 400 meters of quay,
- the use of 4,200 tons of steel, and
- the installation of 400,000 paving stones.
Speaking through its representative, Mr. David Fontini, the consortium commended the project’s safety performance, highlighted by the absence of incidents during this phase, and expressed its determination to maintain this high standard through to the full completion of the works.
In his remarks, the Director General of PAC praised the teams’ commitment and recalled the fundamental mission of the Port of Cotonou: “To serve international trade in a spirit of transparency and operational excellence.”

Once finalized, the new infrastructure will be made available to partners in order to enhance the overall performance of the port platform.
It should be noted that these works are part of the Port of Cotonou’s master modernization plan, which includes around a dozen structuring projects aimed at strengthening the port’s attractiveness and regional competitiveness.
Upon completion of this program, the Port of Cotonou intends to consolidate its status as a major logistics hub in the sub-region and beyond.
