The National Port Authority (NPA) of Liberia, a key player in African maritime infrastructure, is marking a significant turning point under the leadership of its Managing Director, Hon. Sekou Dukuly. In a determined move toward improving employee well-being and operational efficiency, management recently announced the reactivation of employees’ medical insurance, an essential service that had been suspended since 2021.
This major initiative reflects management’s renewed commitment to its staff. The reinstatement of medical coverage is seen as a crucial factor in boosting morale and productivity within the institution and represents a fundamental step in strengthening the NPA’s employee support systems. This decision directly impacts the quality of life for workers and their families, affirming a people-centered approach at the heart of the port’s strategy.
Beyond employee well-being, the management team also conducted a comprehensive performance review across key departments: administration, operations, and security. This evaluation highlighted the need for increased efficiency, strengthened accountability, and teamwork to elevate the overall quality of port services and solidify the NPA’s institutional reputation. The objective is clear: to transform the National Port Authority of Liberia into a high-performing public institution.
Furthermore, notable progress has been made regarding the Authority’s compliance with its statutory obligations to employees. The NPA is now current with its remittances to the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) and the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP). This development, which breaks from past shortcomings, demonstrates management’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
These advancements reaffirm the NPA leadership’s determination to reposition the port as a model of high-performing, transparent, and people-focused public management. The emphasis on employee well-being and operational excellence strengthens the National Port Authority of Liberia’s position as a major and reliable player in the African port network, actively contributing to the region’s economic development.
