Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) is celebrating another milestone following recertification for a record sixth cycle of ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System (QMS).
Presenting the certificate to mark the achievement to the KPA Managing Director Captain William Ruto this afternoon, Kenya Bureau of Standards Managing Director Ms. Esther Ngari congratulated the Authority for staying on course in the standardization journey.

Captain Ruto underscored the importance of the QMS noting that its successful implementation has enabled KPA to enhance quality standards for customer satisfaction, business development and management, as well as improved performance over the years.
The MD further added that the certification clearly demonstrated KPA’s robust, and clearly defined procedures that the Authority has put in place in business areas such as risk management registers, handling of documents and data, environmental & climate sustainability awareness, and strong business continuity processes.
KPA’s journey to QMS certification begun in 2007 with the attainment of first certification in 2009, under ISO 9001:2008. The Authority was later recertified in 2012.
In 2015 once again the International Standard Organization; the body that oversees all organizations revised the QMS standard to ISO 9001: 2015 which KPA successfully transitioned to. This led to the organization being recertified again in 2018 and 2021.
