As part of the emergency works at the Coste and Vuillemin quays, and with a view to the rehabilitation and extension of the Port of Mahajanga, a delegation from the World Bank, led by the Practice Manager for East Africa, paid a working visit to the Port of Mahajanga on the morning of Sunday 14 July 2024.
The delegation included senior officials from the Contingent Emergency Response Component (CERC), a Malagasy government project supported by donors. The CERC aims to provide assistance to the most vulnerable populations to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and to support households affected by the drought in the south. The delegation also included representatives from the General Directorate of Public Works.
The receiving delegation, led by the Director General and Regional Director of the Mahajanga Maritime and River Port Agency (Agence Portuaire Maritime et Fluviale “APMF”), was assisted by senior officials from Mahajanga, including the Secretary General of the Boeny Region, the Prefect of Mahajanga and the Regional Director of Transport and Meteorology.
