Port cooperation: A delegation from OPRAG on a working visit to Tangiers

From 01 to 02 July, a delegation from the Office des Ports et Rades du Gabon (OPRAG), led by its Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jean-Pierre LASSENI DUBOZE, and its Managing Director, Martin BOGUIKOUMA, travelled to Tangiers, Morocco, on a working mission. This strategic mission falls within the framework of bilateral cooperation between Gabon and Morocco, and aims to modernise and secure Gabon’s port and maritime infrastructures, in accordance with the wishes of the Head of State.

Discussions with the Tanger Med Port Authority focused mainly on improving management and security technologies in the maritime sector. Although safety has improved considerably over the decades, it remains a priority to protect goods, prevent accidents, save lives and ensure an effective response to emergencies, while minimising environmental risks.

OPRAG is thus responding to the desire of the Head of State, HE Brigadier General Brice Clotaire OLIGUI NGUEMA, to bring Gabon’s port practices into line with international standards. This will reinforce the country’s reputation as a safe and reliable maritime gateway.

A partnership with Tanger Med, one of Africa’s most efficient ports, is envisaged. This partnership would include a transfer of technology and knowledge, enabling Gabonese staff to develop advanced skills through the use of state-of-the-art technological systems.
