On 23 June 2025, Congo Terminal announced the delivery of 4 new RTG gantry cranes. With
a lifting capacity of 40 tonnes, this equipment will increase the storage capacity of containers
in the yards and help to improve the fluidity of all operations.
These machines will add to an already well-stocked fleet comprising 8 STS quayside gantry
cranes, 26 RTG yard gantry cranes, 5 mobile cranes and 11 reachstackers. Congo Terminal
expects 3 more RTGs by the end of 2025.
‘The purchase of this new equipment and the construction of a new port platform at the East
Mole demonstrate our commitment to supporting the country’s competitiveness and the
development of trade in the region,’ explains Sandrine WAMY, Congo Terminal Operations
Manager.
The company is continuing its investment program to make Pointe-Noire the benchmark deepwater port and the transhipment platform of excellence for the entire southern part of the West
African coast. In 2022 and 2023, Congo Terminal exceeded the threshold of 1,000,000 TEUs
handled per year, and plans to handle more than 2,400,000 TEUs per year by 2027 with the
commissioning of the new port platform currently under construction at the East Mole.
