Working visit by a Dutch delegation to the Port Autonome de San Pedro

On Monday 16 September 2024, the Port Autonome de San Pedro (PASP) had the privilege of welcoming a Dutch government delegation led by Ms Elena BINDELS, who is both West Africa Team Coordinator and Private Sector Adviser at the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl).

This working visit follows on from an economic mission to the Netherlands last February by PASP Director General Hilaire Lamizana, aimed at consolidating cooperation links with Dutch partners and identifying new opportunities.

The visit follows several months of fruitful exchanges between PASP and its Dutch partners.

The discussions focused mainly on the implementation of large-scale projects. These included

  • The relocation of the small-scale fishing port and the transformation of the old quay into a semi-industrial port, a project that should benefit from financial support from Invest International.
  • Female entrepreneurship as part of this relocation project.
  • The development of a sustainability policy at PASP, with technical support from the Port of Amsterdam.

The Dutch delegation showed particular interest in this sustainability policy, which was presented by Mr Allangba Dominique, Director of Standards, Internal Audit and Risk Management (DNAR).

This detailed roadmap sets out the ways in which PASP intends to reduce or even eliminate pollution and have a better impact on the environment, thereby reinforcing its brand, which has been under construction for several years.

Both parties stressed the crucial importance of this cooperation in meeting the challenges of sustainable development in the Port of San Pedro.

At the end of these constructive discussions, which helped to define the next steps in this cooperation, a guided tour of the port facilities was organised.
